Site Assessments and Restoration

Introduction

In addition to environmental monitoring, City of Racine Public Health Department Laboratory personnel are engaged in partnerships with other Southeastern Wisconsin agencies to improve environmental conditions by conducting site assessments and/or restoration activities within the watersheds listed below. These projects range from data collection to plan development, engaging dozens of stakeholder groups. Coordinating and addressing degraded water quality on a watershed scale recognizes that natural drainage boundaries do not follow traditional political boundaries. It also allows for a comprehensive visioning and joining of resources that can be used to strategically target improvements.

Below are examples of site assessments completed in support of watershed restoration and related plan development, or restoration actions undertaken as a result of plan recommendations.
