A tree permit is required for any activities that impact trees located on the city right-of-way or city-owned/controlled public property. Permits must be acquired before starting work.

Permits may be:

  • Approved as requested
  • Approved with modifications
  • Denied
Standard Tree Permit Applications

A Standard Tree Permit Application is required for work on public trees in Racine, including:

  • Planting
  • Pruning
  • Removal

This ensures all work follows city ordinances, safety standards, and best practices.

  • Submission: At least 30 days in advance
  • Permit validity: 90 days
  • Cost responsibility: Permit holder
Annual Tree Permits

Designed for utilities and companies whose ongoing work (excavation, trenching, maintenance) may impact public trees.

  • Covers approved activities for the entire calendar year
  • Ensures compliance with city ordinances, safety standards, and proper tree care
  • May be approved as requested, approved with modifications, or denied
