Cadet Program

About

The Racine Police Department Cadet Program helps prepare young people for a future career in law enforcement. The goal is to build well-trained, educated, and diverse future police officers for the City of Racine.

Cadets meet once a week to learn from real police officers. These officers teach lessons and lead hands-on training activities. Cadets also attend community events and help at department functions. Together in 2024, they volunteered for over 150 hours at events like the Fourth of July Parade, National Night Out, Holiday Parade, Cops n’ Kids Book Giveaway, and more.

Some cadets may be selected for paid positions after completing a tough application process. This process is very similar to what real police officers go through. Paid cadets help with online police reports, assist with community outreach, and support the department as needed. These positions give cadets real experience and help them get ready to apply to become full-time officers.

We’re proud that several cadets have already become Racine Police Officers, including Gabe Brandies, Gregory Sanders, Xochitl Morales, and Jamie Strain.
