About the Department

The City of Racine Public Health Department provides a wide range of services to improve the health and wellbeing of those who live, work, and/or play in the City of Racine, WI:
  • The Community Health Division ensures health and safety through a variety of services, including a Sexual & Reproductive Health Clinic, the YouFirst program (which aims to reduce infant mortality and poor birth outcomes in Racine), a Harm Reduction program, Childhood Injury Prevention programs, and communicable disease follow up.
  • The Environmental Health Division helps to protect residents and visitors by permitting and inspecting restaurants, grocery stores, temporary food events, hotels, public pools, and body art facilities, ensuring compliance with strict health and safety standards.
  • The Laboratory Division helps to maintain the safety and quality of recreational waters, including Lake Michigan, the Root River, and surrounding communities through water quality testing, site assessments, and environmental remediation.
