Hiring Process

Part 1
  • Interested applicants submit Part 1 of the application.
  • Link to Application
  • Minimum requirements include that you must be ages 16-24 at the time of application
Part 2
  • Video Submission.
  • Applicants receive detailed instructions for their video submission including questions, requirements and deadlines.
Review
  • Video is graded based on minimum requirements, answers to the questions and other considerations.
  • Placements are made based on video submission, career choices and department needs.
Official Requirements / Conditions of Employment
  • Age 16 — 24 at the time of application submission
  • Submitting part 1 and part 2 of application
  • Interns will be placed at one of the City of Racine departments and/or divisions based on their current skills, interests, and video submission.
  • Youth must be at least 16 years of age at the time of the application submission.
  • Interns may receive training for their specific department they will work in. Every internship training may or may not be the same.
  • Work schedule will depend on the department’s need that the intern is placed in.
  • Intern will receive professional development training every Friday from 9 am- 1 pm.
  • Interns will be assigned to a supervisor and/or mentor who will provide guidance, support, and feedback.
  • Work duties can vary from each day during the 7 weeks of the Youth Employment Program.
  • Interns will be expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner during the 7- week internship.
  • Interns may be required to complete certain requirements to successfully complete the internship such as completing a final assignment and participating in a survey.
  • Department lead will clearly communicate with interns what their duties are during the 7 weeks.
