The Department of Community Safety aims to address community violence from a public health perspective. This means using data and research, and our understanding of human bio-psycho-social behavior to develop and deploy programs and strategies to prevent violence. By collaborating with residents and institutional partners, we work to prevent, intervene with, and interrupt cycles of violence before a law enforcement response is necessary.
