From Mayor Cory Mason:

  • On behalf of the City of Racine, I am proud to present the City of Racine’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. This Master Plan was driven by the community input received at public meetings hosted by the City of Racine Public Health Department and reflects the opinions, needs, and concerns of those who participated.
  • Through the creation of this plan, the hope is to increase the accessibility and connectivity of all corners of the Racine community. Whether you walk or ride a bike for sport, leisure, or personal transportation, the Master Plan has addressed the key travel needs of pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • For many Racine residents, walking and bicycling are basic modes of transportation to and from places of work, school, worship, public transit, and recreation. It is essential for these routes to be useful, safe, and in good repair. Everyone, including Racine visitors, will benefit from the implementation of the Plan as walking and bicycling can contribute to a greater quality of life by offering healthy and affordable transportation for people of all ages and abilities.
  • The Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan is just one way Racine works together to make the City better each and every day. Read the Plan, and then get out there and enjoy this great City! Your thoughts about what has been done so far are welcome, and even more amenities and facilities will be added in the future.

This Plan seeks to increase accessibility to all parts of the City and improve facilities for both bicyclists and pedestrians, as well as to improve the connections between City shared-use pathways and those of adjacent communities.

This page contains information and updates about the process of creating the Plan, information about the Advisory Council for this project, and records of public comments received throughout the process.
