Ohio Street Reconstruction Project
Washington Ave to Graceland Blvd
Construction: April 28 through October 2026
The City of Racine will begin reconstructing Ohio Street on April 28. This project will be completed in stages to maintain traffic flow while work is underway.
Overall Traffic Pattern:
- One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained for most of the project
- Cross traffic will remain open at Kinzie Avenue and Graceland Boulevard
- Access to side streets will change depending on the stage of construction

Pre-Stage (Week of April 28)
Crews will construct temporary crossovers in the median to prepare for staged traffic shifts.
- Traffic reduced to one lane in each direction in active work areas
- Drivers should expect lane shifts and short-term delays
Stage I (Early May through Mid-July)
Reconstruction of the northbound lanes.
Traffic:
- One lane in each direction shifted to the southbound (west) side
Access:
- Cross traffic open at Kinzie Ave and Graceland Blvd
- Limited access from Lindermann Ave (west side only)
- No access from Lindermann to the east
- No access to Haven Ave
Stage II (Mid-July through October)
Reconstruction of the southbound lanes.
Traffic:
- One lane in each direction shifted to the newly constructed northbound (east) side
Access:
- Cross traffic open at Kinzie Ave and Graceland Blvd
- Access to Haven Ave restored
- Limited access from Lindermann Ave to the east
- No access from Lindermann to the west
What Residents Should Know
- Expect delays and plan alternate routes when possible
- Access to homes and businesses will be maintained, though routes may change
- Please use caution and follow posted signage in the work zone
