✅ Great For:
- Dog owners wanting off-leash playtime in a secure and scenic environment.
- Families — with kids running between playgrounds and adults enjoying nearby amenities.
- Anyone seeking a social, friendly, and safe outdoor experience for their pets.
🐶 Dog Park Features:
- Separate fenced areas: One for small dogs (≤25 lbs), another for large dogs (>25 lbs); dogs must be ≥4 months old
- Visitors can bring up to three dogs per visit and are responsible for waste cleanup; aggressive behavior requires immediate leash –and removal
- Spacious and well-maintained, the park offers seating areas, waste bag stations, and beautiful views of the Root River corridor
🌳 Island Dog Park Updates:
- New trees have been planted throughout the park! As they grow, they’ll eventually provide natural shade for both dogs and their owners.
- There are also plans in consideration for a small roofed shelter to offer a dedicated shaded seating area in the future.
- While the dog park is designated for off-leash play within fenced areas, dogs on leashes are also welcome to walk along the Root River Pathway surrounding Island Park — a great way to enjoy a longer stroll with your pup!
These enhancements reflect the City’s commitment to making Island Dog Park a more comfortable and enjoyable space for all visitors—two-legged and four-legged alike!
Tips & Reminders
- Bring your own baggies; while there are stations, supply depends on refilling schedules.
- Park rules are posted at entrances—important to follow for everyone’s safety.
