WEAVR Volunteers

Background

It only takes one disaster to disrupt our entire community. Whether it’s a pandemic flu or a threat like Ebola, public health emergencies can strike fast and hard. That’s why being prepared is essential. A strong response saves lives and volunteers play a vital role in recovery. Their support helps ease the burden on healthcare systems and brings much-needed aid to those affected. Preparedness and community involvement are key. Together, we can build a safer, more resilient future.

What is WEAVR?

The Wisconsin Emergency Assistance Volunteer Registry (WEAVR) is a secure, web-based system for health care and behavioral health professionals to self-register for critical response roles during public health emergencies. Volunteers can update their information and are contacted by public health officials to fill specific roles, with training provided at the reporting site.

WEAVR respects the time of its volunteers, recognizing that offering your time means less time for personal activities. The program offers flexibility, allowing you to choose how much time you want to contribute. You will always have the option to decline if you’re called upon. Since the WEAVR system is mainly used for large-scale emergencies, volunteers are not expected to be called on frequently.
