City Issues Flood Alert for Root River Area

The City of Racine Department of Public Works has issued a Flood Alert for areas along the Root River due to recent high-intensity rainfall events and rising water levels.

Current conditions indicate the potential for localized flooding, particularly in low-lying areas near the Root River. City crews have taken proactive steps to prepare, including the delivery of sandbags to select public and private properties.

As part of these precautionary measures, Domanik Drive is currently closed in the Lincoln Park area, between the Root River Steelhead Facility and the United Way building. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Public Works and emergency personnel are continuing to monitor river conditions closely and will provide updates as necessary.
